It has been too long!

I am excited to start posting in my blog again. It has been a busy past 2 years with teaching my PreK students. I did create a few things, but I never had the chance to post. Now that I am off for the summer, I want to start blogging again.

I have spent the past few days on a few blogs that I followed and came across a Father’s Day challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut. They are giving away a $50.00 gift card to SVG Cuts, so I would really love to win that because I am enjoying my Explore. I thought that I was done buying machines, but I had to buy the Explore because you are allowed to cut whatever you want. I was hoping to one day buy the Silhouette Cameo, but I am glad I never did. I could never cheat on my Cricuts :)

Onto the challenge…

I made these cards for my dad and grandpa.

Materials Used
Cartridge: Bump in the Night (mustache cut at 4 inches)

Stamps: Boy Mates Face Assortment by Peachy Keen Stamps

Explosion Cake Box

Robyn over at My Pink Stamper posted a challenge on Saturday to make anything with a birthday theme. My mom’s birthday is on Saturday so I figured that it would be a good idea to start on her birthday card, banner, etc. I have always wanted to make an explosion box/cake box (it has too many different names), but I thought that they were too hard.
I found a great video online and was able to finally make an explosion box :) It took me all weekend long, but now that I have the hang of it, I hope it doesn’t take this long next time.
I used a few different cartridges. I love using my gypsy because it allows me to search through all the images without having to look at every cartridge.

Birthday Bash (numbers 5 & 1 & the O’s to make the flower)

Birthday Cakes (Happy Birthday sentiment and the border underneath it)

Tags, Bags, Boxes & More (tag-sentiment on tag from My Pink Stamper’s line of stamps, Everyday Life)

Twinkle Toes (elephant~My mom loves elephants!)

Peachy Keen Stamps Sketch Challenge #53: Take it easy.

I enjoyed creating a card for the sketch challenge over at Peachy Keen Stamps blog, that I had to do another challenge. I was so excited to use my new Peachy Keen stamps that I purchased last week. I fell in love with the stamps and can’t wait to buy some more.
Sketch Challenge with a TWIST
  • Create a card based on the layout AND twist provided (Peachy Keen Stamps are not required for this challenge, but if you got 'em, we always love to see what you create with them!)
  • Project must include basic elements from provided sketch & a sponging technique
While typing up this post, I realized that I didn’t add the sponging technique to my card. I had never tried using the technique, but I liked it. As you can tell, I need practice :)

My card before adding the technique...
I think that adding the sponge technique made it look a little better.
You can’t really tell, but I added an Action Wobble to the card. First time using them and I love how the octopus wobbles.
Cricut Cartridges: Birthday Bash (octopus), elegant cake art (circle design behind the octopus), Elegant Cakes (accent), and Tags, Bags, Boxes & More (tag).
Stamps: Peachy Keen Stamps~Critter Faces (size medium) and My Pink Stamper~More Punny-licious.

Ink: Broken China Distress Ink by Tim Holtz

Valentines

Happy Valentine's Day!!!
These are some of the Valentine's Day cards I made for my family.
I made this card for my sister because I love the stamp I used. The stamp came from My Pink Stamper’s Punny-licious stamp set. The owl is from the Cindy Loo cartridge and I chose that owl because it was easy to use pop dots to pop up every layer.
I made this card for my circle pal using the Hannah Montana cartridge. I printed out the saying from my printer.
I made this card for My Pinkalicious Blog Hop Friday and the challenge was to use the color black with your favorite color or colors. I used the Create a Critter cartridge for the lion and the Love-alicious stamp set from My Pink Stamper. I also used pop dots to pop up the lion's mane.
I made this card for my mother because she loves elephants and John Lennon, so it was a perfect match. I keep falling more and more in love with Robyn’s stamps and can’t wait to order her new ones. I used the Paisley cartridge and My Pink Stamper’s Love-alicious stamp set. I popped up one ear and the envelope using pop dots.
