Hello Kitty Graduation Cake

Wow! I haven’t posted in such a long time. Sorry, I was really busy with graduation and Christmas. I still can’t believe that I graduated from college. I feel like the years went by too quickly. I still remember every detail of when I graduated from high school in 2007. I am excited to get back to crafting and taking it easy for these upcoming months. I didn’t want to start teaching right away, so I am just going to be subbing and I hope to get a teaching job by August.

I am not a fan of having parties for myself, but my mom wanted me to have a graduation party. I made a few party favors and I will post those tomorrow. 


I wanted to share the cake that my mom and sister helped me create. My sister baked the cake and it’s actually a 3 layered cake; 2 layers are blue and 1 layer is orange. I’ll post a picture as soon as I cut the cake. I don’t want to cut it yet : ) My mom added the frosting and rolled out the fondant. I am not that great at making tortillas, so I haven’t tried rolling out the fondant.

Cartridge Used: Hello Kitty Greetings (HK cut at 7 inches)

Cutting fondant is as easy as cutting paper.

 Just roll out the fondant, add it to the mat, and press cut.

I cut one color at a time.

TIP: My mom uses parchment paper to roll out the fondant on.

My mom used this impression mat called Wilton Fondant and Gum Paste Silicone Mold Baroque that she bought at Michaels to create the border. All you have to do is roll out pieces of fondant on the mat and pull it out and you have a border. I found this video on youtube that shows you how to make the border. Fast forward to 7:00 minutes.

This is a picture of me and my sorority sisters who went to my graduation. Love them!!! For those of you who don't already know, I get my blog's name "Gamma" from the nickname that people call us, "Gammas".

Spring Card

Good Morning everyone! Wow! I just realized that I will be graduating in 10 days! I can't wait to be an alumni from Sam Houston State University :) And tomorrow is also my LAST day of student teaching!!!

I created a Spring Card because I have really enjoyed making these cards. They are so easy to make! The only hard thing about this type of card is finding the right envelope.

I created this card using the Hello Kitty Greetings cartridge. I just love Hello Kitty and I was never a fan of real cats until I got one of my own.

Unfortunately, I only had my kitty for about 6 months because I moved back home with my parents and my mom is not a fan of cats. I found her a great home to live at.

She was best friends with my chihuahua.

Whoever said that cats and dogs can't be friends?

Pretty much all my babies ever did was sleep :)

 A friend of mine did catch me and them sleeping together one time when I came home tired from working in the Preschool. I didn't even know that the picture was taken until one day I was looking through the pictures in my cell and found it. I love this picture, but I miss my kitty :( You can tell how tired I was because I didn't make it to my pillow.

Happy Birthday

I created this Easel Card for one of my sorority sisters. She loves Hello Kitty and so do I! I just love both of the Hello Kitty Cartridges!!!

This is the first time that I have created an Easel Card and it's super easy! This is the fastest way to create a fun unique card. I watched this video to learn how to make one.

I also wanted to share this picture that I took on Thursday (my last day of student teaching) in my 3rd grade class. The students covered the table with cards and gifts and surprised me when I came into the classroom with my lunch. I didn't want to cry, but I couldn't hold back the tears when I saw one of my little boys crying. I am going to miss my little ones.

Hello Kitty Shrinky Dinks Charms

Good Morning and thanks for stopping by today!


I had to create 26 charms for a swap I joined in the Cricut Circle. The easiest way to create charms is to use Shrinky Dinks. When you use Shrinky Dinks the image/cut shrinks and thickens when placed in the oven.

Here is the charm that I created by printing/cutting out the image on my Imagine.

In order to be able to print out an image using the Imagine, you have to use the Cricut Craft Room (CCR).

Narelle, a fellow Circle member posted on the messageboard that she figured out how to print out an entire image using the Imagine and CCR. Check out her website to find out how to print out an image. I was going to show you on here, but she just did an amazing tutorial and I didn't want to take credit for it. (I just checked their website and since the CCR keeps getting updated, it's not allowing to print out a complete image on the Imagine right now, but it doesn't hurt to learn. Hopefully this feature starts working again.)

Once the images were printed, I let them dry for 2 hours because the ink was still wet. I then used my Crop-A-Dile II Big Bite to punch a hole on the top.

You have to punch the hole on them first because once the Shrinky Dinks harden, it's going to be too hard to do so afterwards. Next step is to place them on a tray and put them in the oven for 5 minutes.

Magic!

The color changed a bit, but I still like them because they're still Christmas colors. I don't know why they are ovals now, but I am still learning how to use Shrinky Dinks. The charms ended up being 1 inch each.
