Under The Sea Blog Hop

Welcome to the Under The Sea Blog Hop! 

I just love the sea, so I was excited to create something for the hop. You should have arrived from Gill, if not feel free to start from the beginning.

I  created a Welcome banner for my classroom for the first day of school. I am going to be teaching PreK, so I wanted the students to walk in the classroom and feel welcomed. I decided to have an ocean theme in my classroom, so I am excited that I got to create the banner. I still have a lot more things to create. Who said teachers don't work in the summer? :D

I am hoping to hang my banner in front of the dry erase board in the classroom, so since I made a huge banner, I couldn't find a place to hang it in my house. I had to take two pictures to show the whole banner. Sorry!

Mini Tutorial

Before I start a banner I always like to cut out the letters first and then I decide which cartridge to use for the rest of the cuts.

Materials Used
Cartridges: Hannah Montana (letters cut at 6 inches)


Create a Critter(Crab, Jellyfish, Octopus, and Whale cut at 4 inches, Fish cut at 3 inches, Sea Horse cut at  4 ½ inches, Starfish cut at 3 ¾ inches, Sea Shells cut at 2 inches)

Hello Kitty Love

Today Erica asked us to create Valentine die cuts. I love Valentine’s Day because of all of the pinks and reds! I also enjoyed giving out cards when I was in school and making my own for my parents. I can’t wait to celebrate Valentine’s Day with my future students :)

Since I love Hello Kitty, I decided to make myself a Valentine’s Day Home Décor.

Materials Used

Cartridges: Hello Kitty Font (HK cut at 4 1/2 inches)

                 Create a Critter (Love cut at 3 inches)

Mini Tutorial

I first cut out 2 Hello Kitties (I clicked on the Flip button for the 2nd Hello Kitty)

I then cut 2 HK using chipboard and glued it behind the 1st cut.

I then cut out some more chipboard to make the stand and used my scoreboard to make it easier for me to fold it.

I glued these behind each HK to make them stand up.

I have created a Zoo themed cube. I bought this cube at Target for $1 I think 2 years ago. A friend of mine wanted me to help her create some decorations for her child's room. I like the cube because her child will be able to display whichever Zoo animal he wants.

An apple for the Teacher

Good Morning everyone! Today is a very exciting day for me because I am going to be observed by my supervisor while I teach. I am a little nervous, but I always get excited about the feedback. I like finding out what my strengths and weaknesses are.

I created a card to have in my collection of "teacher cards" for the future. I have been wanting to learn how to make a Swing Card and I just had this idea in mind. I watched this tutorial and I had to go through some trial and error, but it was worth it.

This card was the hardest thing I ever had to take a picture of.

September's 100 Cartridge Blog Hop ~ Part 1

Wow I can’t believe that it’s September already! I hope that you have been enjoying the blog hop so far! I love the 100 Cartridge Blog Hop because I get to see so many different creations with a lot of different cartridges.

You should have come from Tracey’s blog, Scrappin In The Woods With A Bug. Didn’t Tracey create such a wonderful layout? I am going to start scrapbooking again today! I am really excited because I had stopped scrapbooking as I became addicted to card making.

I used 6 cartridges to create different cards for Project Sunshine and Smiles. This is your last week to make them and Erica (My Cricut Craft Room) is hoping to receive 5,000 cards.

Squish Spinner Card

I had so much fun making a Spinner Card and I am going to show you how fast and easy it was to make one.

This is how I made the card...

*I used the Create a Critter cartridge and cut the water that is used for the fish bowl at 6 1/2 inches

*Then I used my Gypsy to add the cut where my "spinner" is going to go using a tag from Tags, Bags, Boxes & More (You don't have to use the Gypsy, but I did because I was having trouble centering the tag where I wanted it with the Cricut)

*Since the water is in a shape of a bowl, I flipped the water over and traced using a pencil on the card, so that I can cut the water the size that I needed

*Here you can see the pencil marks. Then I used my paper cutter to cut out the extra.

*I then used the same sand from the fish bowl and cut the image at 7 inches. I also had to cut out the extra sand that wasn't needed. I used the Polka Dots embossing folder to add texture.

*Flip the cut to the back and add dimensionals. You have to add the dimensionals because if you tape it/ glue it down, the spinner won't spin. (If you don't have any dimensionals, I usually find them in the dollar store in the home goods section. They are called Foam Mounting Squares or Circles. I really like them because they are really thick and sticky and plus you get 200 squares for $1!)

*Now for the fun part~making the spinner. All you need is 2 pennies and 2 circle dimensionals. Stick 1 dimensional to 1 penny.

*Now place the other penny on top of the one with the dimensional. (Doesn't it look like an Oreo cookie? :P )

*Place the spinner between your cuts.

*Add your second dimensional to the top of the penny.

*Add your image/cut on top of the dimensional and you are done!
